How to Choose a Glasses Case That Fits Your Frames

Choosing a glasses case sounds simple โ€” until the case is too small, too bulky, too soft, or not protective enough for the way you actually use your glasses.

A good glasses case should do two things well:

  1. Fit your frame properly
  2. Match the way you carry and use your glasses every day

At MyEyeglassCase, we have been making and selling eyeglass cases, sunglasses cases, soft pouches, hard shell cases, and travel cases since 2007. One of the most common problems we see is that shoppers choose a case by appearance alone and assume their glasses will fit. But eyeglasses and sunglasses come in many different shapes, widths, and folded heights, so the right fit matters.

Before choosing a case style, start with the most important step: measure your folded glasses.

First: Measure Your Glasses Before Choosing a Case

The easiest way to avoid buying the wrong case is to fold your glasses and measure them before you shop.

Start with the length. This is usually the fastest way to know if a case may work for your frame. If your glasses are clearly too long or much shorter than the inside case length, you may need a different case style or size.

Then measure:

  • Length of the folded glasses
  • Width of the folded glasses
  • Height/depth when the glasses are folded

Always compare your measurements to the inside dimensions of the case, not just the outside size. A case may look large from the outside, but the inside space is what determines whether your glasses will fit comfortably.

A good fit should not squeeze the frame. It should also not be so oversized that the glasses move around too much inside. As a simple rule, look for a case that gives your frame a little extra room inside โ€” enough to close easily and protect the glasses without pressure.
